The Dell U2412M is one of the top models in terms of connectivity possibilities. It has 5 USB ports which is a really rare feature for monitors. This unit is also climate pledge friendly which means that it’s compatible with international sustainability standards. In addition, it has an eco-friendly design, being manufactured of arsenic-free and mercury-free materials. Hence, it’s an ideal choice for energy conscious users.
The Dell UltraSharp U2412M has 2.6 x 21.9 x 14.2 inches in size and weighs 16 pounds, being quite light as for an IPS model. The screen diagonal measures 24 inches. It also has a non-standard 16:10 aspect ratio.
The Dell U2412M monitor features a UXGA (1920 x 1200) resolution. A truly detailed image is received due to the extra 120 pixels that lack a standard Full HD resolution.
This model uses an LCD display that is known for its energy-efficient properties and longevity. Thanks to the LED backlight, the monitor won’t get too hot and its temperature remains evenly distributed across the entire panel.
The Dell UltraSharp 24 monitor U2412M has a 60Hz refresh rate and an 8ms response time. So it’s not among the best ones for gaming and sports fans because it can’t provide a completely blur-free picture.
The monitor is equipped with an IPS panel. This means that it has excellent viewing angles and contrast. It also covers a full 16.7 million color RGB spectrum. The screen has an anti-glare, matte finish with a 3H hard coating.
Generally, the monitor has a decent picture quality. An immersive movie-watching experience is achieved due to a sharp image and vivid colors (the Movie mode). On this monitor, even small text is clearly visible. It also comes with decently pre-calibrated colors. There are no oversaturation or tint issues.
The U2412M Dell also offers the Energy Smart mode that controls the brightness level depending on the ambient light.
The monitor’s body is made of black matte plastic. The panel is only 2.7 inches thick. The bezels are 0.7 inches wide.
The control buttons are ergonomically placed on the right bezel. There are Preset Modes, Brightness & Contrast adjustment, Menu, Exit, and Power buttons. Unfortunately, they aren’t labeled.
2 USB downstream ports are located on the right side of the monitor for easy access. One USB upstream port and the other 2 USB downstream ports, DisplayPort, DVI-D, and VGA connectors are located under the bottom bezel. Once you connect the monitor to the computer via a USB upstream port, you can use the other 4 USB connectors.
Unfortunately, the monitor really lacks an HDMI connector.
The stand allows you to tilt (–4°/ 21°), rotate (–90°/ 90°), swivel (–45°/ 45°), pivot, and adjust the height of the monitor (up to 115mm). Thus, you can feel free to adjust the preferred view and position of the monitor.
The stand has a small footprint of 11 x 7.2 inches. The support is decent, and the monitor won’t wobble if placed on a flat surface. There is also a cable management slot. There are VESA mounting holes (100 x 100) in the back of the monitor.
As it becomes obvious from this U2412M review, this monitor was designed with an eco-efficiency in mind. It was made of eco-friendly materials, has an Energy Smart mode, and meets international sustainability standards. The model will also work great for those who need a lot of connectors, as it can offer 4 types of connectivity choices. It also can be recommended for those who don’t need an HDMI port. The UXGA resolution is slightly better than the traditional Full HD resolution.
