The Dell SE2717H is a 27-inch monitor with 1920 x 1080 native resolution. Thanks to the IPS panel, the picture looks consistent regardless of the viewing angle, so it doesn’t really matter where you sit.
The exact size of the monitor is 24.4 x 7.3 x 18.1 inches while the display area measures 23.54 x 13.24 inches. The aspect ratio is 16:9. The whole unit weighs 12.79 pounds.
The monitor’s features allow it to be considered as one of the decent low-cost solutions for gaming. The maximum refresh rate of 75 Hz is slightly better than standard (when connected via VGA port, the refresh rate drops to 60Hz). The Dell SE2717H monitor has quite an average response time of 6ms, but it supports the FreeSync technology that ensures fluid performance at almost any frame rate. Unfortunately, the monitor doesn’t have a DisplayPort which is perfect for FreeSync operation.
The Dell SE2717H specs include 10 preset modes, including 3 different gaming modes. Although it may not be the best model for advanced gamers with super-fast CPU and the most capable graphics card, but, for casual gaming, it’s undoubtedly a good choice.
Since this model is LED-backlit, it ensures a clear picture with deep blacks. However, the blue and red colors seem undersaturated, but it’s not critical unless you are involved in professional photo editing. The 8000000:1 dynamic contrast ratio is decent but also can be tweaked in the Custom Color option. At maximum settings, the monitor has a 300 cd/m2 brightness level.
The Comfort View feature protects your eyes by reducing the amount of blue light that is harmful to your eyes and makes them tired quickly. This model also eliminates the perception of screen flicker, providing a flicker-free viewing experience. Thanks to a matte screen and an antiglare coating with 3H hardness, the monitor is not subjected to reflections.
This model comes with the Dell SE2717H driver and 3 cables (power, VGA, and HDMI).
In general, the Dell 27-inch monitor SE2717H looks neat. The bezels and the back have a glossy black finish. However, all scratches and fingerprints are instantly visible, and also it isn’t resistant to dust accumulation, so it requires extra care. The back of the monitor is also slightly curved.
The bezels around the screen are quite thin (0.3 inches on the sides and top, and 0.5 inches on the bottom) and aren’t distracting. Connectivity options are very limited: there are only one VGA input for analog sources and one HDMI input on the rear of the monitor.
Control buttons are hidden under the bottom bezel. There are a button to switch between the preset modes, brightness/contrast adjustment, menu, exit, and power buttons.
The base is made of plastic with a metallic finish and provides good support while also having a modest footprint. The stand only allows tilting the monitor’s angle (–5/ 21 degrees), but, considering the fact that the monitor uses an IPS panel, you won’t need a lot of adjustments to get the best view. The stand also has a cable management slot, but it’s almost useless since the monitor has only two ports.
This model has some attractive features for gamers, like 3 game modes, 75Hz refresh rate, and FreeSync support. It’s also decent for multimedia as it provides a great brightness level and clear Full HD picture. Hence, in the conclusion of this Dell 27 monitor - SE2717H review, I can recommend this model for casual use and gaming.
